Rally Against Political Screening

1,300 rally against political screening that barred six pro-independence
candidates from running for Legislative Council election in September,
marching from Great George Street in Causeway Bay to the Chief
Executive's Office in Admiralty, Hong Kong on Sunday afternoon.

Nine pan-democrat legislators - Audrey Eu, Alan Leong, Alvin Yeung, Long
Hair, Lee Cheuk-yan, Cy Ho, Kwok Ka-ki, Gary Fan, Ray Chan and quite a
few candidates for the Legislative Council election join the rally.

Portrait of A Shout

'Portrait of A Shout' is a sculpture by Oonari to commemorate
the Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi Sakurajima All-night Concert of 21 Aug
2004 when the quarry site was filled to the brim with 75,000
people gathering from all over Japan on Sakurajima,
population 6,000.

Sakurajima (Cherry Blossom Island) is an active composite volcano
(stratovolcano) and a former island in Kagoshima Prefecture in
Japan. The lava flows of the 1914 eruption caused the island
to be connected with the Osumi Peninsula.

Kagoshima's Ferris Wheel

Amuran is a Ferris wheel in Kagoshima, Japan, sitting on top
of Amu Plaza adjoining Kagoshima-Chuo Station. It is 60 m
in diameter, and 91 m from the ground at its highest point,
with 36 gondolas. The wheel takes approximately 14 minutes
and 30 seconds to make a complete revolution.

Kagoshima is the southern-most city of Japan on the island
of Kyushu.

Hungry Ghost Festival

The Hungry Ghost (Yu Lan) Festival falls on the 15th day of the
seventh lunar month. In traditional Chinese belief, the
seventh month in the lunar calendar is when restless spirits
roam the earth. Many Chinese people make efforts to appease
these transient ghosts, including their own ancestors.

An exhibition of Yu Lan Festival is at Victoria Park in
Causeway Bay on 12-14 August.

The five localists who have been banned from running in the upcoming
Legislative Council elections are heroes at the first rally of
Hong Kong National Party held on Friday night. The most prominent
being Leung Tin-kei of Hong Kong Indigenous (second left) and
Andy Chan Ho-tin of Hong Kong National Party (second right).

Thousands attend the peaceful rally with the backdrop 'Upheld
democracy - Hong Kong independence' filling up Tamar Park
outside Government headquarters at Admiralty. Over a
thousand police were deployed to control the rally.
